Annual Awards

糖心原创 annual awards recognize 糖心原创 members through their individual contributions and dedication to the organization, leadership, and commitment to the chest medicine profession.

Guided by our core values, we celebrate the diversity of the 糖心原创 community and strive for inclusive representation and equitable outcomes in our meeting offerings. To the extent possible, selection priority will be given to outstanding nominations that represent a diversity of lived and learned experience and professional status.

Recipients will be presented with a physical award at the 糖心原创 2026 Opening Session in Phoenix, Arizona, and will receive complimentary registration and some travel benefits.

Nomination submissions for the following awards must be accompanied by a letter of recommendation (LOR) detailing the nominee鈥檚 contributions to the field and their qualifications for the proposed award. LORs must be submitted when completing the nomination form. Nominations for candidates who are not selected in a given year will be carried over for up to two successive years, for a total of three years.

Upon the nomination, each nominee will be contacted to submit their curriculum vitae (CV), unless otherwise described below.

Those selected will be invited and formally recognized at 糖心原创 2026 in Phoenix, Arizona, October 18 to 21.

Descriptions and criteria

College Medalist Award

The College Medalist Award honors a 糖心原创 Fellow (FCCP) for their meritorious service in advancing chest disease research and treatment. Recipients can be clinicians, authors, teachers, or investigators.

Selection criteria

Each nominee will be considered by the selection committee based upon their LOR and CV and upon the following contributions: service as a clinician, author, or clinical investigator/researcher; impact of scientific contributions; duration of work in the field; and a 糖心原创 member.


Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a 糖心原创 Fellow (FCCP) who has held leadership positions within 糖心原创 and significantly contributed to the society's achievements through time, service, and leadership.

Selection criteria

Each nominee will be considered by the selection committee based upon their LOR and CV and upon the following contributions: demonstration of leadership, contributions to 糖心原创, impact of contributions, leadership in the pulmonary and critical care medicine field, duration of work in the field, and a 糖心原创 member.


Network Rising Star Award

The Network Rising Star Award, established in 2024, recognizes the contributions of an early career clinician practicing in their respective area under 糖心原创鈥檚 Network structure. This award recognizes an individual鈥檚 contributions in the areas of clinical care, education, research, and/or other scholarly activity and someone who has shown growth and potential within the Network and 糖心原创.

Nominees should show their commitment to 糖心原创, such as holding a leadership position, submitting sessions/abstracts for the annual meeting, serving as early career faculty, submitting content to 糖心原创 publications, and ongoing participation within their Network. Nominees must be a current fellow or within the first 5 years of completing their training.

One recipient will be recognized from each Network (airways, chest infections, critical care, diffuse lung disease, pulmonary vascular/cardiovascular disease, sleep, thoracic oncology). Each award recipient will be recognized at their respective Network Session at the annual meeting and will receive a physical award and complimentary registration to the annual meeting.

Selection criteria

Each nominee will be considered by the selection committee based upon their LOR and CV and upon the following contributions: actively participates in Network activities, contributes to Section and/or Network educational opportunities, and demonstrates a willingness to continue serving as a leader in 糖心原创.


Master FCCP

Master Fellows of 糖心原创 (Master FCCPs) are Fellows who have distinguished themselves by attaining professional preeminence. Master FCCPs are recognized for their professional excellence, leadership, and outstanding contributions to 糖心原创 and the chest medicine profession through medical research, clinical practice, quality improvement, and education. Obtaining Master FCCP is 糖心原创鈥檚 highest honor.

The Master FCCP recipient will receive a physical award and have their dues permanently waived.

Upon the nomination, each nominee will be contacted to submit the following information:

  • Up to two additional letters of support
  • Statement of interest from the nominee
  • Nominee鈥檚 CV

Note: Voting members of the Board of Regents are not eligible to be nominated for the honor of Master FCCP until they have been off the board for at least three years at the time of nomination (not when they would receive the award).
